Stanley Roberts of KRON-4 news investigates why Sonoma Raceway put up K-rails to stop people from using their lot for illegal U-turns. The problem is so bad, even the CHP had to observe and watch the shenanigans unfold.

Considering the area, there's NO FUCKING WHERE ELSE TO TURN AROUND. It's either there, or a vineyard up the street towards Sonoma. Otherwise, you're funneled either to Vallejo, 15 minutes East, or to Lakeville Highway, which is 5 minutes away, and leads to a fairly roundabout way to get back.
I was cruising around there once, just checking out the area. I thought I'd get to the racetrack, then make my way back to Sonoma. I get there, look for places to turn around other than the Sonoma Raceway parking lot, and decide I'll just head towards Vallejo and find a backroad to make my way back to Sonoma. Guess what? There are no backroads there. Fastest way back was to take the exit in Vallejo, then double back, for a grand total of half an hour wasted.

I'll be there on Thursday leaving there in peak rush hour so I'll see for myself how bad it is. But knowing having been to Sonoma Raceway many times before, I know there really isn't a place to legally turn around for a few miles, so I actually sympathize with them.

I hadn't even seen traffic that bad until I was heading home to Stockton from Santa Rosa, even my GPS was like lol are we on foot?

And then leaving Sonoma, where 121 intersects Arnold Rd, a very busy intersection, there's a GODDAMN STOP SIGN!

I wanted so badly to have been on a bike that day.

I always just took Watmaugh around that intersection to Stage Gulch Rd, which is apparently a deathtrap. You just can't win.
